September in Texas usually means cooler weather and backyard barbeques. So it’s only fitting that we celebrate one of the best barbeque joints around. Cattleack Barbeque is not only known for their mouthwatering meats, but also for their consistent 5-star experience that feels like home. For that reason, they are the deserving recipients of this month’s Best in Business award.
Cattleack owner, Todd David, always had a passion for the barbeque pit. After 35 years in the commercial disaster clean-up business, he and his wife, Misty, finally took his hobby from an at-home pastime to a booming business.
Though Cattleack’s award-winning menu is known for traditional BBQ consisting of tender smoked meats and homemade sides, they also have many rotating specials that have allowed Todd to experiment and showcase unique flavor combinations. The secret Ingredient? “We use only Akaushi Beef and Duroc Pork. Great BBQ starts with great cuts of meat.” Bonus: because Cattleack doesn’t have a liquor license, they reward anyone that’s dining-in (and 21+) with a free beer…Lone Star beer of course! Texas Proud.
They say teamwork makes the dream work, and in this case, the teamwork of hubby and wife Todd and Misty David has made their BBQ dreams a reality. According to Todd, “We keep each other focused and it’s fun to bounce ideas off of each other… I am the creative side putting the menu ideas together, and Misty is the personality for sure. She loves to greet the customers each morning with a “high five” and a smile when we open the doors and tries to learn everyone’s name.”
It’s evident that serving up a warm environment, a family feel and showing the local community love is the key to their success. The Davids proudly honor military veterans by displaying pictures, flags and badges brought in by their very own customers. You can even spot photos of both Misty and Todd’s dads on the wall, both in uniform.
