Sometimes, sushi can be a gamble. You’re never quite sure how fresh your rolls will be, how they’ll be prepared or even what’s in them. When it’s delicious, it’s delicious! But when it’s not … well, you know.
Soho Sushi knows this too, which is why their method is insanely amazing. You walk up to a counter, choose what you want in your roll (from meats to veggies to sauces) and they make it there in front of you! It’s quick, fresh, delicious – and Cincinnati yelpers got to experience this first hand
About 75 people gathered in Soho’s downtown location for a night of bites, beer and badass tunes with Yelp’s Rock and Roll Elite Event.

Yelpers started the night by choose their sushi as Soho’s staff worked lightning-fast to make it. Some people even went through the line twice (or three times!) to keep trying more. “I was a little nervous about the concept and whether the sushi would be good but I definitely enjoyed it! I work very nearby so it will definitely make my lunch list,” Emily H declared.

After dinner treats were provided by Jessicakes, who made four different types of cupcakes capped with tiny Yelp flags for the sweet delight of all! “The Jessicakes were scrumptious! I love baked goods as much as sushi, especially unique flavors. I had a Southern Comfort red velvet cupcake and the vanilla cupcake with strawberry icing, which was delightfully creamy,” Paige M said. There were even cupcakes that looked like giant sushi! We were rolled over.

Washing it down were a selection of samplings from craft beer makers Rivertown Brewery from Lockland, who introduced everyone to their fantastic line of cold brews. The night also featured some sake, plum wine and Japanese beer to really round out the selection.

The “mmms” and “noms” of the food and drink couldn’t be heard, though, over the fantastic music of BJSR, a one-man guitar player complete with drum machine. Mixing in terrific originals with fantastic covers of Paul Simon, Cee Lo, Rihinna and even the “Fresh Prince of Bel Air” theme song, he was a fantastic addition to a fantastic party.

Overall, we can’t say it better than Rachel G:
"The staff: A-freakin-mazing!
Sushi: Triple A+
Beer AND sake: Yes please!
And oh my goodness the cupcakes: Nom!
And awesome musical stylings: Over the top!"
Everything was truly amazing.
