Yelp Elites followed 3 simple rules at
Dancing Marlin of Frankfort: Eat, Drink, and Share! All about sustainable food with a purpose and backed by 24 premium wine and cocktail
taps, Dancing Marlin had the sea of Chicagoland Elites hooked at Yelp's Fare Share at Dancing Marlin.
Over the course of 2-hours, 80 Elites drank over 160 cocktails, and shared over 260 plates, including such notable nosh as:
Fried Kale (Tuscan Kale fried in Olive Oil, dusted w/ Truffle Salt and topped with Parmesan Cheese) "The fried kale was delicious. I didn't even have to bargain with the BF like I normally do when it comes to vegetables." ~ Melissa B
Fried Green Tomato Sliders (w/ Pimento Cheese & Piquillo Peppers) " My favorite dish was the fried green tomato sliders. This was the
first time I've tried fried green tomatoes, and I think it may become an
obsession. The buns were soft, which complimented the crispy breading
on the tomato. The sauce and cheese really topped these off." ~ Angela P
Sloppy Joseph Sliders (Braised Beef Brisket, Stewed Peppers, Thyme Aioli)
Mushroom Flatbread (Roasted Local Mushrooms, Braised Leeks, Montemorre Cheese, Cream Sauce) "Mushroom flat bread has the best shiitake mushroom flavor mixed with excellent cheese on a very thin crust." ~ Jie S
Ahi Tuna Nachos "The Tuna Nachos were the best thing I have eaten this summer. They had
such a bright flavor that paired so well with the creaminess of the
avocado and tuna." ~ Emily B
Seared Sea Scallops (Corn & Brown Butter Puree, Carmelized Leeks, Pickled Corn & Pistachios)
Aged Gnudi Ricotta Dumplings (w/ Braised Carrots, Green Beans, Marinated Beets, Dill & Lemon)
Braised Berkshire Pork Belly Buns (served in a Steamed Bun with Daikon, Cucumbers, Pickled Scallions & Hoisin Sauce) "the Berkshire pork belly that was in the buns was cooked beautifully.
The seasoning was delightful, and I couldn't have been happier to have
that piece of pork in my mouth." ~ Janni V
Grilled Berkshire Pork Tenderloin (w/ Tomato Roasted Green Beans, Saffron Braised Potatoes & Pesto Mayo)
Grilled Meyer Ranch Hangar Steak (w/ White Bean Puree, Grilled Leek & Radicchio Relish, Spinach & Beef Jus) "Meatilicious!" ~ Kathleen M
Carrot & Almond Cake (Cream Cheese Mousse, Almond & Candied Ginger Granola, House-Made Marshmallows)
Dancing Marlin's famous Coffee & Doughnuts (Brioche Doughnuts, Salted Caramel Sauce, Whipped Cream Coffee) "I am still thinking about the coffee & doughnuts dessert and wished I
had some for breakfast! The donut had a tasty maple-like glaze, and
the coffee mousse was tasty both on the donut or alone on my fork." ~ Angela P
And the night wouldn't have been complete without a toast to Dancing Marlin's 24 tap handles touting wine and cocktails. Some of the night's featured potent potables included the
**Tom Likes Cucumbers (Pearl Cucumber Vodka, Italian Aperol, St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur, Fresh Lemon Juice) "I don't even like cucumbers normally but damn that was amazing. It was
so cool and refreshing that I could see myself laying around by the pool
drinking one or ten." ~ Courtney C
**Gin & Juice (Hendrick's Gin, Lillet Rose, Fresh Watermelon Juice, Lemon Juice & Simple Syrup) "It's laid back, yo!" ~ Janni V
**Scofflaw (Templeton Rye, Noilly Prat Dry Vermouth, Fresh Lime Juice & Pomegranate Syrup) "Of the cocktails, scofflaw was my favorite. I was a bit apprehensive
because I'm not the biggest fan of rye (even though I enjoy other
whiskeys) because the spice can be a bit overwhelming, but the sweetness
of the pomegranate and lime juice gave it a delicious finish." ~ Lucy C
**Bikini Bottom (Bacardi Pineapple Rum, Stirrings Ginger, Lemon Juice & Simple Syrup) "The Bikini Bottom comes with a little Spongebob-shaped wedge of fresh pineapple!" ~ Janni V
