What do you get when you put together sumo suits, inflatable Twister, cornhole, delicious food and great yelpers? A PLEY Elite event at South End Fieldhouse, of course! As Elite Jimmy D said, "I predicted it was going to be hot for this event, and I was right. But who cares about silly stuff like that when you can dress up in sumo suits and knock someone out in a bouncy castle?!"
Yes, more than 70 yelpers gathered in South End's coolest fieldhouse for raucous romp. When Elites weren't sumo-suiting up courtesy of Your Event Source or trying their arm at a quarterback challenge, Roaming Fork was feeding them full of plenty of their food truck delights. A sample box including a wing, parm fries, succulent pork barbecue and their specialty, a fried deviled egg! Shauna H "absolutely loved the fried egg and the delicious wing! She also learned "they park the truck close to my work (airport area)…I will hunt them down for sure!"
Across the way Cupcake Delirium satisfied all the sweet tooths with three different cupcakes – Elvis, 24 Carrots, Red Velvet and S'mores. While Elvis was in the building, he was only present in our bellies. Travis W put it simply: "As far as the cupcakes, I tried the Elvis…I mean come on the cupcake's got bacon on it (insert moment of silence here for the greatest food on the planet)…it was delicious!"
These tasty delights were washed down by a variety of beverage choices. Palm Bay International provided refreshing vino from El Portillo and Bottega Vinaia. The Portillo Sauvignon Blanc was so popular, the Elites sipped through all of it in just an hour! For all the beer aficionados at the fieldhouse, LoneRider Brewing Company provided a bevvy of ale including Sweet Josie, Peacemaker and Shotgun Betty, a favorite of many, including Elite Jeff S! And for those who hydrated between serious sessions of Twister, vitaminwater was on hand to cool everyone down!
All the action packed fun was captured by the talented Kelli Boling of Red K Photography. Definitely check out the Yelp Charlotte Flickr page for more photos and view yourself in pley! For the skinny on whose sumo dance was tops, who twisted the best and who took down the most cupcakes, visit the official event page…and don't forget to give your own account of the pley-ful evening!
Until next time – SYOY!
