Tapping into a spirit from the early '90s, Yelpers slammed their way to a good time in the Upper West Side by way of the once red hot teen game, pogs! Made popular in Hawaii and enjoying 15 minutes of fame on the mainland for adolescents in the early-mid '90s, it proved to be a flashback to simpler times when car phones were the cat's meow and you'd never catch a member of the Cyrus family twerking on the VMAs.
The venue of choice for this shindig was Bar Thalia in the Upper West Side. A stone's throw from the Columbia campus, Bar Thalia is an intimate 46-seat bar offering signature cocktails and a New American menu in a relaxed and intimate setting. If you've ever hung at the adjoining Symphony Space, you've likely had a drink or two before various productions next door… and they've been known to house quite the fun trivia night every Wednesday that's become a staple in the quiz game circles.
Small bites made the rounds from Bar Thalia's kitchen, and our pals at Lagunitas kept thirst at bay with an array of products including their signature IPA, the "Little Sumpin Sumpin", as well as their harder-to-find Censored Copper Ale. Keep tabs on them via Facebook, and be sure to snag one of their burrrs next time you see them around New York City.
