Yelp Baltimore, like, totally partied hearty, dudes, with the most righteous reception in decades and Yelp Bmore’s FIRST Yelper Party: “Yelp’s Totally ’80s Wedding!”
Yelp Baltimore, like, totally partied hearty, dudes, with the most righteous reception in decades and Yelp Bmore's FIRST-EVER Yelper Party: Yelp's Totally '80s Wedding! Hundreds of people donned their finest '80s attire for the event at The Mobtown Ballroom (a former church in Pigtown), many of them arriving in style courtesy of Limousines, Inc's super swanky limo bus shuttle. Guests were then treated to cuisine from some of Baltimore's best restaurants including Sullivan's Steakhouse, RA Sushi, Mother's Federal Hill Grille, The Land of Kush, Cazbar, Jack and Zach Food, and Oooh So Sweet Bakery and sampled cuisine ranging from flank steak sliders, jerk wings, Natty Boh sausage, and chiptole mac n' cheese to vegan soul food, delectable sushi, turkish treats, and bacon and maple cupcakes! "It was like a Taste of Baltimore with all the extras," says a stuffed Nina U.
Crispin Cider and New Belgium served up the brews, while the Bad Decisions made alcoholic Root Beer Floats courtesy of ROOT and SNAP spirits. Honest Tea kept folks hydrated with a variety of yummy, healthy non-alcoholic beverages. All so tasty! "Forget about even trying to decide which drink was my favorite," says Samantha G. "There were so many!"
The Wilder Experience and Chelle B. Styles gussied up guests with '80s makeovers before they entered the Smilez Photo Booth, while Absolute Entertainment lived up to its name with '80s ballads galore.
Baltimore Aerialist Nina Charity did Madonna justice, performing to "Like A Prayer" prior to Your Mama Productions' Thriller flash mob literally coming out the woodwork and suprising the crowd. A RUN DMC tribute lip-sync followed up at the end and was totally rad!
Elite Courtney C and her hubby won for best '80s outfit and were named "Yelp Bride and Groom," winning Yelp schwag and tees, as well as gift certificates from the the vendors – a good thing since they "are already planning on calling some of the food sponsors for their future party plans!" Baltimore Child Abuse Center walked away a winner as well thanks to generous yelper donations.
The party was just as memorable as the '80s themselves. Gary H sums it up: "Each and every party I go to after this will probably be a mere shadow of what I experienced. Truthfully, I don't think that I can ever go to another party outside of a Yelp event again. Sigh." Ask us and that's a pretty good problem to have, Gary H. Let's do it all over again!
