Yelp Austin Celebrates Women-Owned Businesses as “Ones to Watch”

We rounded up the buzziest women-owned businesses in the 512. You’ll find businesses like recent Top 100 Places to Eat honoree 1618 Asian Fusion, a Vietnamese-Thai spot where Yelpers rave about their pineapple fried rice, and Northrop’s Furniture Shop, a local business run by three female craftspeople. Whether you’re looking for your next meal, manicure or haircut, this list has something for everyone looking to shop their values and support female-led businesses. Consumer interest in women-owned businesses was up 2,739% in 2020, compared to 2019, and review mentions of women-owned businesses was up 76% for the same time period.

To determine this list, Yelp’s team of Data Scientists looked at businesses with the woman-owned business attribute in a variety of categories. From the candidate businesses, we narrowed down the list through weighing a variety of factors, including a national presence, recent inclusion in Yelp Collections, average rating and review counts. Finally, we used human curation to identify trendsetting businesses in Texas.
