The papers had been filed, the nubers checked and rechecked, the books closed and the office door locked… It was time for Yelp Glasgow to get started with Less Business and More Pleasure at the classiest work-share in all of Glasgow… the SocietyM!
While the date was frightful, the party was not as a whole host of spectacular (spooktacular?) sponsors rolled out some quite outstanding samples for a 150 plus strong bunch of veteran Yelpers (you know who you are!) and newbies alike (ahoy to thee!).
With beery tipples being tipled by the likes of the lovely Hannah from BrewDog, who rolled up bottles of their iconic Punk IPA and sublime 5am Saint, as well as David and John from Heineken, who supplied folks with an outstanding range from Tiger to Heineken, (with some Desperados thrown in for good measure!) Yelpers were certainly not short of a liquid libation to soothe the stresses of the week!
Not to be outdone by the beer department, the spirit folks got into the… eh… spirit? of things as a couple of Yelp favorites once again plied us with a fine range of whisky, gin and other fine things! With Grant from Luscious Liquids on great form, Yelpers were treated to samples of Arran Whisky, Stroh with hot chocolate and Brockman's Gin amoung other things! Meanwhiles, accross the desk Mark and Matt from the quite awesome Good Spirit Co did their usual and supplied Yelpers with a stunning range of spirits direc from their underground cave of splendid on Bath Street.
The invite to this event said nibbles. We thing the food sponsors took this a a challenge as one and all they rolled up with a stupid amunf of grub for Yelpers to indulge their tummies and taste buds in. First up the lovely peeps from La Tasca treated us all with a wide range of tapas incluing meats, cheeses and a quite bizarre but (i'm assured!) terribly tasty black paella (which they'd love some feedback on if you have it!). On the other side of the table, the lovely folks from Vespbar kept the piping hot pizza coming as they delivered pie upon pie of tasty Italian godness straight from their Drury Street location. If that wasn't enough, Iain and his merry Mexican loving crew rocked up from Pinto with a veritable banquet of fiery, meaty, saucy (ooh err!) and cheesy goodness!

And if there was enough space for desert, we pretty much had that covered to with a couple of Glasgow's finest sweet toothed businesses chucking tasty, tasty calories in our general direction. First up the Flamingo Bakery reduced many a Yelper to a pool of drool on the floor as they served up a range of mini cupcakes. As if that wasn't enough, Jackie and her gang from Nucoco were waiting in the wings to knock 'em dead with a range of her inventive and stunningly gorgeous chocolate. My oh my!
And that was that… or was it? Nah, of course not! As a wee treat for the men folks (beacuse they're worth it) the effortlessly stylish chaps from Mo Hair were on hand to do the doo's of the dapper dudes in the room (try saying that after a few!) with some quick styling and hints and tips on products! More? Yip as once again we were lucky enough to welcome along the boys from Black Hearted Press/Glasgow Comic Con to share their knowledge on the currently exploding comic scene in Glasgow!
OK, so none of this would have been possible if not for the support from the fantastically stylish and enthusuastic SocietyM and their Glasgow manager Amanda. From day one she showed a real desire to make this event happen and welcome Yelpers into their amazing venue. If you have questions for her about anything regarding this joint, then she welcomes your contact!
Finally, there are some folks who deserve a shout out for their help on the night. First off, our resident Yelp Glasgow photo-dude Mr Alasdair Watson once again out did himself with some cracking pics. Get yourself along to our Facebook page for a nosey and get commenting! We were also very fortunate to have Row H and Alex S up from Leeds and London respetively. Big ol' thanks to these guys!
