Newark isn’t only home to the New Jersey Devils — this thriving city is also known for its array of delicious eateries. Whether you’re looking to calm your playoff game nerves or want to cheers to an epic win, there are plenty of places to satisfy your hunger near The Rock. Let Yelp be your guide on where to grab some tasty grub and don’t forget to cheer on the New Jersey Devils as they compete for the Stanley Cup!

Before: 

The Ainsworth – Newark

Notes: Make reservations directly through their Yelp listing. At The Ainsworth you can find sports bar food with an upscale feel and a rooftop bar to boot! What’s not to love about a burger doused in mac n’ cheese?


Redd’s Biergarten

Notes: Classic biergarten fare — brats and brews galore! Redd’s is directly outside of Prudential Center, making this one of your closest options for game day eats.

 

Dinosaur Bar-B-Que

Notes: Dinosaur Bar-B-Que is home to some of the best BBQ in NJ. They’re located right across from The Rock, so why not take advantage before a Devils game? Don’t miss out on their ribs and pulled pork.

Mercato Tomato Pie

Notes: Game day food doesn’t only mean wings and burgers. If you want a perfectly cooked brick oven pie, then Mercato Tomato Pie is where you want to be. Order a pie, grab a cold pitcher of beer, and you’ll be set.

Eleven Clinton – Smothered Blues

Notes: Home-style cajun food and live jazz and blues? Sign us up! There’s nothing wrong with getting swanky before a hockey game and Eleven Clinton is the perfect place to do just that!

 

Chateau Of Spain Restaurant

Notes: Newark is home to many delicious Spanish restaurants including Chateau of Spain. Coat your stomach with seafood paella and a pitcher of sangria before making your way over to the game!

Notes: But of course, some of your best food and drink options can be found at Prudential Center. Loaded tater-tot nachos, funnel cakes, and pastrami-topped hot dogs are some of the many ways to get your foodie fix inside The Rock. You can check out all of the various concessions here. And if you’re feeling thirsty (we have a feeling that you might) there are lots of different ways to get your drink on. You can even track down your favorite beers with the Prudential Center Brew Finder.

 

After: 

Krug’s Tavern

$$ (118 Wilson Ave, Newark, NJ 07105. 973- 465-9795)

Notes: Krug’s Tavern is a no-frills dive bar that is known for having one of the best cheeseburgers in NJ. Krug’s is a little over a mile away from Prudential, but after looking at their Yelp photos we have a feeling that you may be up for the trek.

Hell’s Kitchen Lounge

$$ (150 Lafayette St, Newark, NJ 07105. 973-465-4422)

Notes: At this point hopefully you’re ready to celebrate the big W. Hell’s Kitchen Lounge is one of your best options to do just that. Copious amounts of booze and easy-to-please bar food make this a great post-game option in Brick City.
