It was an ale of a good time at Von Ebert Brewing. This newly-opened Pearl District brewery invited in the Portland Yelp Elite community for all-you-can-drink beer with a side of delicious barbecue! From the first sip of IPA to the last bite of pulled pork, the entire event proved that in a city full of breweries, Von Ebert Brewing is one that connoisseurs truly need to know.
Welcoming the Yelp Elites and their guests was a personal bartender serving two of Von Ebert’s favorites: Chapter 3 IPA and N.E.W. Pils, which features a selection of New World hops. But when a brewery has over 40 creative and constantly changing taps, Yelpers aren’t content with just trying two beers. Thankfully, Von Ebert surprised the guests with news that they could go up to the bar and try any beer that tickled their fancy! What were the most buzz-worthy beers? Yelpers loved the Pearl Paloma (an American wheat combined with fresh grapefruit juice and mint) as well as the cask-conditioned Dark Mild, with notes of chocolate, nuts and fig!
With that much beer up for grabs, Von Ebert knew they needed to supply a sizable buffet, too. This was the perfect opportunity to show off their soon-to-be-famous barbecue catering operation! Brisket and pulled pork sandwiches were the main event, with delectably creamy macaroni and cheese on the side. Vegetarians loved the offering of Impossible Burgers, and everybody enjoyed the trays of gastropub appetizers like fried pickles, soft pretzels, and jumbo onion rings. If anybody left this party still hungry, it’s because they weren’t even trying.
For those who were also thirsty for knowledge, brewery owner Tom Cook took guests on personal tours of the brewery. Sharing both the basics of brewing and the special touches that make Von Ebert unique, the Yelpers got an education on the amount of effort that it takes to turn grains, hops, and yeast into delicious beer! And the tour wrapped inside the brewery’s massive walk-in cooler, where Tom poured beers directly from the brite tank. What a (literally) cool ending to a beer tour!
Portland’s Yelp events are known for fabulous takeaways and prizes, and this party was no exception. Von Ebert gifted each guest with an impressive swag bag that included t-shirts, can koozies, and even certificates for half off their next beer tab! If that weren’t enough (which come on… it totally was!), Tom raffled off his personal Portland Trailblazers tickets, plus dinner and drinks before or after the game! Talk about putting the “custom” in customer service!
