Two Elite Events in five days and dodging downtown cab drivers didn't stop 100 Yelp Elites and their guests from showing up for a spicy welcome to the neighborhood at: Yelp's Casa-Warming At The Blind Burro. The sun went down, the bar was stocked and the staff was ready… odelay!

San Diego Yelpers are no strangers to legendary Mexican food, but they had a
chance to get reacquainted with an old favorite offering new twists as The Blind Burro played host to the Squad in their brand new and beautiful corner location. Launching with years of experience behind them, The Blind Burro has hit the ground running and is ready to impress with creative food and cocktail menus that spiked the crowd's appetite. Flights with the roasted tomato-pasilla salsa, tomatillo-serrano salsa and the triple chile cheese sauce seemingly appeared out of thin air and landed on all tables and across the two bars — but it didn't stop there! Think small-bites of baja-style Mexican food such as…
Sweet potato-chorizo tacos: smoked tuna, roasted red bells, queso oaxaca and taco shop guac.
Jalapeno popper tacos: pulled chicken, triple chile cheese sauce, crispy queso panela, roasted jalapeno and chicharrones.
Baja ceviche: Mexican white shrimp, bay scallops, tomato, onion, avocado, cilantro and lime.
BB guacamole especial: Grilled avocado, roasted poblano, grilled onion, chorizo, roasted garlic, lime, and chicharrones served on mini tostadas.
Churros: Cinnamon-sugar and creme anglaise sauce.
Of course the night would not be complete without a little surprise from our gracious hosts. Literally rolling unannounced from the busy kitchen came a cart loaded with oyster shooters which was a small preview of The Blind Burro's creative new concept: Baja dim sum! You heard (and tasted) it here first, Yelpers!

The Blind Burro's savory, succulent spread paired perfectly with the bold beverages brokered by our great friends at Azunia Tequila, Dos XX and served by the expert staff at The Blind Burro. Azunia and their promotional crew brought their classic blanco version to the party, which was sampled and mixed into B.B.'s signature Margarita Flaca. The Dos XX Amber and Lager made themselves comfortable in the guest's hands but the chance of it going warm before the last drop wasn't an option with the ice filled storage containers built into the tables. Nice touch! Also making an unexpected appearance was the Harvest Sangria made with Gran Mariner, black berry brandy, succulent juices and loaded with fresh apples and served in a long stemmed wine glass. Great drinks paired with speedy service ensured that nobody in the restaurant would go home thirsty.

With food and drink in hand, Elites mixed and mingled and admired the hard work that The Blind Burro did to make this Yelp Elite Event a huge success. With that being said a gigantic thanks goes out to Danielle from Azunia Tequila, Pete from Dos XX, Frank and the stellar staff from The Blind Burro and of course the Yelp Elite Squad, without whom none of this would have been possible.
