Elite Yelpers and guests gathered at the Garden Kitchen for a hands-on Seed-To-Table gardening workshop. We kicked things off with a tour of the garden with Master Gardener and Community Kitchen director, Jenn Parlin. And guess what? There’s a lot that can thrive in Tucson! A plethora of herbs from basil to parsley, all kinds of lettuce, lemon grass, fruit & citrus trees, berries and more. How do we know? The Garden Kitchen grows them all on their property!
Following the tour, we dug our hands in the soil and prepped our planters with basil seeds which included sweet, lemon, anise and purple varietals! After the hands-on portion of the event, we got a detailed lesson on planter preparation, companion planting and transplanting!
As always, new friends were made and we welcomed new community members at this event. A huge thanks to The Garden Kitchen for an inspiring and educational evening!
