To celebrate the beginning of American Craft Beer Week on May 16, a week focused on celebrating independent breweries and brewers in the U.S., we’ve rounded up the best craft brewery in every state according to Yelp data. From pilsners and stouts to hazy IPAs and sours, these breweries are serving up ales all over the craft beer spectrum.
If you’re asking yourself, “what makes a beer a craft beer?”, according to Brewers Association, for a brewer’s beer to be considered craft beer, they must have three attributes and by definition be small, independent, and be a brewer. In the craft beer world, small means an annual production of less than 6 million barrels a year, independent means that less than 25% of the brewery is controlled by a beverage alcohol industry member – that is not itself a craft brewer, and a brewer meaning they have a TTB Brewer’s Notice and make beer.
