From our roots in manufacturing to the recent renaissance of artisanal production, Brooklyn has always been a hub of creativity and industry. We want to shine a spotlight on this abundance of local ingenuity and determination, which is why we've launched the Brooklyn Born series of events.
Last night, we headed inside the beautiful new Gowanus home of Threes Brewing. Located (appropriately) at 333 Douglass St, this is the rare space that seamlessly integrates all sorts of concepts under one roof. In addition to having a visible production space from which delicious beers flow, Threes Brewing is also: an excellent coffee house (Ninth Street Espresso); a warm and welcoming bar (serving kickass cocktails, in addition to great beer); a restaurant currently hosting residencies from Brooklyn friends and favorites (Roberta's just checked in yesterday); a live music venue (stay tuned for details on shows); and when the spring hits, home to your new favorite Brooklyn backyard…
This array of attributes might make one think that they weren't focused on the brew, but a simple sip would tell you you're wrong. Greg Doroski, the resident brewmaster, boasts an impressive pedigree, and last night he took some lucky yelpers through a beer and cheese pairing for the ages. As Sean E intimates, "Brendan and Greg were great hosts – friendly, knowledgable, and humorous. It was very kind of them to guide us through the different beers." Check in here for more reviews, but really, just get over there and experience the real thing.
A huge thanks to Greg, Brendon, Cherie, Josh and the rest of the Threes Brewing team for welcoming us in; I know I'll see you all over there for a pint soon!
