In the words of Neal Brown, owner, "The Libertine celebrates the American spirit of the cocktail." On December 5th, the 78th anniversary of the repeal of prohibition, The Libertine welcomed the Elite Squad to celebrate Repeal Day. To commemorate the day, amidst roars for freedom, there was a reading of the 21st Amendment to officially ratify the awesome that happened for the Elite Squad.
Chef Erin Smith crafted a menu to pair perfectly with The Pisco Sour & pals. The menu reads: bacon popcorn (yes, bacon popcorn), Osso Bucco Canape, Wild Mushroom Crostini & Artichoke Fritter Pops.
At The Libertine, your craft cocktail is one part art, one part exact science and 98 parts heaven. They debuted their punch buffet of Absinthe Prosecco, Bourbon apple & Rum punches. The cocktailiers craft classics & their own offerings such as… Wayward Road: gin, black pepper & thyme syrup with the rarely seen Jerry Thomas bitters, The Pisco Sour (with shaved Nutmeg) & The Old Fashioned (with Absinthe mist), "a melody of slicing, mashing, pouring, stirring, and served over ice," says MJ W. (Not pictured: 37 other cocktails on the menu.)
Did I say Absinthe? That's right. Absinthe. Eight lucky Elites were presented the prize of Preparation A: a personal, traditional Absinthe preparation. Behold…
Following their cocktail-needs fulfilled & full bellies, Elites never go home emptied handed: each guest went home with an exclusive Yelp & Libertine 21st Amendment document poster. New Elites walked away with their Elite 2011 gift: The Elite Squad Watch.
Halloween? Thanksgiving? Christmas? Psssssh… Repeal Day. The finest American holiday, and "The Libertine was a perfect place for a Repeal Day party," says Theresa K. All the snaps are credit to the ever-terrific SolarFlarePhoto, and can all be seen here. The Five Star Reviews can be read here.
Cheers to The Libertine's American spirit!
