There's nothing better than a true neighborhood joint. A local place where you are always welcomed with a smile, where you can grab a great cocktail or a beer, and anything from a quick snack to a full and delicious dinner. Anyone that lives near the corner of Myrtle & Washington should count themselves lucky, as they've got The Runner. This warm and welcoming restaurant boasts an accessible menu with plenty of stand-outs (many cooked in that wood-fired oven!), and last night they invited the best of Yelp Brooklyn out for an evening we won't soon forget. Check out the reviews, the photos from the lovely Liz Clayman, and read on for more reasons to get over there yourself.
From early on in the evening, it was clear it was going to be a good time. Joanna N "sampled some incredible deviled eggs, oysters and mussels in cream sauce to start," and she admits that it "totally sets me back from my fitness goals but it's so hard to say no!"
For her part, Ingrid S gave the party 5 Stars immediately: "Because I freaking love Buffalo Trace Bourbon…On the drinks menu for the night was a Kentucky Harvest: Buffalo Trace, Mathilde Pear, Ginger, and Mint. Really nice. I could drink this straight on ice but the flavors went well together in the cocktail."
"The flat breads from their wood fire oven were a hit," according to Vivian T! "My fav were the mushroom with melted goat cheese as well as the flambé with speck and creme fraiche aka melted love." With the "cozy warm atmosphere," she "would definitely recommend to come here for a fun date or get together."
Carolina S was pleasantly surprised at the end of the evening by the last course of fish and cauliflower: "The striped bass with the cauliflower worked beautifully together and the cauliflower was perfectly charred. It was nice to sit at a table at the end of the night and enjoy the last dish with friends and conversations."
Matteo R definitely wants to send some love Greenhook Gin's way: "I particularly enjoyed the Italian Aviation, my weapon of choice for the night." And for our part, we have to give a huge shout out to Rich, Alex, Morgan, Pedro and the rest of the awesome staff of The Runner. They really made everyone feel welcome, and it couldn't have been a more fun evening. Make sure you check out the reviews and the photos from Liz Clayman. We'll catch you guys over there sometime soon!
