Learnings From The Hospitable, Heroic, & Humble Butternut

It began as a humble excuse to gather the community for a virtual cooking class. And it became a triumphant act of compassion. With $200 and counting raised for Feeding Tampa Bay. 

Spiced Vegetable Medley with Labneh and Chutney by Natasha

On October 12th, Natasha AKA The Humble Butternut, brought a little spice to our #MeatlessMonday routines. She created an original recipe for the class. The flavors are inspired by Fall, but it’s light enough to enjoy in the Florida heat. She calls it a Spiced Vegetable Medley with Labneh and Chutney. 

Now, for someone who isn’t a fan of eating her veggies. Really I’m not, I usually pass those along to my sister. I was kinda intrigued by this one…

To make this recipe even more accessible, Natasha and her sister packaged kits for the Yelp Community to purchase. Each kit at just $12 came with enough for a full recipe (2 and then some). Some of the ingredients included turmeric, ginger, and coriander. The dish came together in under an hour. 

Much like the flavors of Indian food, this class developed into something so much greater. The fast-paced class still left time for plenty of Q+A. The amount of knowledge and entertainment that was shared so generously by Natasha, was not missed on this Yelp community. Instead of allowing event attendees to tip her, she asked that everyone consider making contributions to Feeding Tampa Bay. Since the event, attendees have given $200 to Feeding Tampa Bay on the team page. Thanks goes to Natasha for inspiring this mission, and thanks to this community for taking the call to action with so much love.
