Ten women-owned businesses in St. Louis to support in honor of International Women’s Day

In honor of International Women’s Day, we’ve rounded up ten well-loved, women-owned businesses that help make up the heart and soul of the 314. From restaurants to florals to shopping and more, this list has something for everyone looking to celebrate on March 8th. 

In the spirit of keeping the celebration going outside of this list, we gave each owner the option to share their favorite women-owned businesses in our beloved city.

Before you venture out, don’t forget to check the business pages for their latest health & safety measures, such as contactless payment and mask requirements.


Balkan Treat Box, Webster Groves

It’s no coincidence that Balkan Treat Box is sitting at five stars with over 250 reviews. Yelpers love the pide (Turkish flatbread), and the entire menu will have amateur food photographers rejoicing.

Maypop Coffee & Garden Shop, Webster Groves

Order a salted dark chocolate caramel latte before you go and pick it up curbside! Maypop’s greenhouse is open to the public (face masks required and only ten guests at a time.) Shop everything from houseplants to patio tropicals, and spruce up your space just in time for spring.

Cathy’s Kitchen, Ferguson

Get ready for comfort food at its finest. The entire menu is based on the travels of owner Cathy Jenkins and features favorites from California, New Mexico, Texas, St. Louis, Chicago, Memphis, New Orleans, and more. Enjoy fried catfish tacos, Memphis style gumbo, cajun chicken pasta, and jambalaya.

Frida’s, University City

Vegans and vegetarians, unite! Meat lovers are going to love this UCity favorite, too. Yelpers recommend the mushroom reuben, and the taco (made with Frida’s signature sunflower taco meat, non-vegan cheddar, crimini mushrooms, red onion, scallions, avocado, tomato, romaine, crema, and pico.)


Avivah Wax Spa, Demun

Avivah is a favorite for lash lifts and Brazilian waxes, and yelpers appreciate the clean, professional, and welcoming atmosphere.

Owned by Hema Patel, Haveli boasts a large menu featuring authentic North Indian Cuisine. Order delivery, curbside, or carryout, and enjoy their tandoori specialties, their vegan specials, and a wide variety of chef specials as well (try the mango chicken!)


Golden Gems, Cherokee Street

Part storefront and part studio, Golden Gems is the perfect spot to celebrate International Women’s Day any time of year. Shop a variety of sweatshirts, t-shirts, banners, mugs, notebooks, and more.
