On a chilly winters night five wonderful local producers held Yelpers in rapt attention as they spoke on the theme of “single origin” and how it pertains to urban honey, artisan chocolate, first harvest green tea, pure dairy, and sourdough using grain from the Flinders Ranges. Elites learned why organic food tastes different according to the seasons, how Australia is the only country in the world free from a deadly bee-killing virus, and why you shouldn’t make green tea with boiling water. After the talks, it was tasting time! From Tranquilidad chocolate using heirloom cacao to Manly honey, there was plenty on offer, including some interactive butter-making and cream-tasting.
