Last week members of the Yelp Elite Squad in Broward-Palm Beach took part in our yearly tradition: Speed Friending! A new twist on the traditional “speed dating”, Elites were able to mix, mingle and meet other Elites in BPB! About 50 Elites took over the back room of Vic & Angelo’s in Delray Beach for an evening of food, drinks and friendship. With each course, newbie Elites moved rows to meet a whole new batch of veterans with each pass.
The carefully curated menu took us on a culinary adventure from the Bruschetta of the Day to flaming cotton candy – there was even a fresh mozzarella demonstration!
As guests arrived they were greeted with refreshing Aperol Spritzers – the social lubricant for the evening. What followed was wave after wave of delicious eats. Round 3 included Coal Oven Baked Sicilian Chicken Wings made with Parmigiano Reggiano, caramelized onion, rosemary, crushed chili pepper. Followed by Round 4: Nonna’s Meatballs with ricotta, bell peppers, garden basil and San Marzano gravy.
As everyone’s belly filled up, so did their friends list on Yelp! With Round 6 we saw newbies moving ever closer to the last row of new friends – and a fresh bowl of Penne alla Vodka for each table, served family style. The dish included Prosciutto di San Danielle D.O.P., sweet peas, creamy vodka sauce.
