Jeudi soir au 68 rue du Cardinal Lemoine, 65 yelpeurs se sont retrouvés chez Sugarplum Cakeshop pour déguster les spécialités du désormais célèbre coffeeshop du 5e. Alors que le printemps commence timidement à pointer le bout de son nez, les invités ont profité du café, portes grandes ouvertes, pour se délecter des plaisirs sucrés concoctés par les Sugarplums elles mêmes.
Les trois jeunes filles, en vraie équipe de choc, ont virevolté toute la soirée, plateaux de gâteaux en main: cake à l’orange et à l’huile d’olive, carrés noisettes, coco et chocolat, gooey butter cake, petits carrés fondant au chocolat ou au caramel au beurre salé, et cookies… Le tout arrosé d’une limonade faite maison légèrement twistée avec de la…vodka, divinement vanillée avec des gousses fraîches ! Ne perdons pas les bonnes habitudes !*. Alexis B donne même une "mention spéciale à cette magnifique "Spiked limonade" que tous les invités doivent déjà surement être en train d'essayer de reproduire ce week-end", alors qu’en "repensant à cette merveille, Karim D en retrouve le goût délicat".
Sur un fond musical très funky, les conversations allaient bon train, interrompues par moments par quelques silences religieux et quelques exclamations : Perle D a succombé au "salted caramel fudgey biscuit", à tomber! Une texture si fondante dans un corps si carré, chapeau”, alors que le gooey butter cake et le cake à l’orange, une vraie tuerie, ont fait fondre de plaisir Julie Y. Rien de tel qu’une petite bière blonde pour rafraîchir une soirée 100% sucrée. “Découverte que cette bière Gallia pour Laurent D, qui sait maintenant où s’en procurer”. Bref, comme le résume bien Pierre Alexis P, "une soirée à l’image des dames du Sugarplum : savoureuse, fraîche, et inclassable ! "

Thursday night at 68, rue du Cardinal Lemoine, 65 Parisian Elite yelpers took a high dose of sugar at Sugarplum Cakeshop where they sampled the coffeeshop' sweet delights. A coffeeshop that has now become a reference for any foodie with a sweet tooth in Paris. As Spring timidly started to warm the streets of the French capital, the guests were able to go from the cosy room to the small terrace, doors wide open, while enjoying sweet bites of Sugarplum deliciousness. Alexis B gives "special credit to the beautiful “spiked lemonade”, which he is sure, all guests must now be trying to reproduce at home", while Karim D can "still recall the taste of it, just by closing his eyes".
The three ladies, as a real charismatic team, twirled around between guests all night long, with trays of cakes in both hands : olive oil and orange cake, nuts, coconut and chocolate squares, salted butter caramel and chocolate squares, gooey butter cake and cookies… All of which were happily topped with a homemade vodka-spiked lemonade…divinely infused with fresh vanilla beans.
People chatted the evening away with some funky music in the background, sometimes interrupted by moments of religious silence and some exclamations of joy. Perle D surrendered to "the salted caramel square, simply to die for! with a texture so soft in a body so strong… Kudos !" While Julie Y gave special credit to "the orange cake, killer !" What better thing than a pilsner to bring some freshness to a 100% sweet evening? The Gallia beers helped digest the limonade and the dozens of gluttonously swallowed sweet treats. And it was a fresh discovery for Laurent D, "who now knows where to drink it". All in all, it was to Pierre Alexis P a "tasty, fresh and unclassifiable night, just like its hostesses !"
