Hieu Doan with the help of his sister, Denise, opened namese in late 2013 bridging the gap between the markets of Vietnam and the streets of New Orleans with their menu. On a cool Sunday, the Yelp community and a handful of social media-savvy folks filled up namese, on the corner of Carrollton and Tulane, for a “pho-nomenal” party of light bites from the kitchen including a blind pho taste test, and delicious Fall-inspired libations crafted with Cathead Vodka.
While guests enjoyed a tasty egg roll to start, Denise educated our group on namese (short for Vietnamese) and prepped them for their pho taste testing between traditional pho and the namese specialty of “shaken pho” that creates a richer flavor than the traditional.
Our folks must’ve listened well since more than 90% of them guessed correctly during our blind taste test, separated by a delicious palate cleanser of papaya salad! Check namese out for National Pho Day on Monday December 12 to get a taste of what our Yelp Elites wrote about in their great reviews! Thank you to Eduardo Benitez Photography for “pho-tographing” this experience for us here.
