Yelpers entered their exclusive event room surrounded by wine shelves against the walls and had a chance to meet the staff, Bar & Cocktail Director, Matt Collett, and owner, Dan Ward, of Piatti San Antonio. Dan and Matt were very passionate about expanding on the philosophy of Piatti and why they’ve been a staple restaurant for the city for decades! Attendees were eagerly awaiting for the first drink to be served which was the Cocchi Americano Spritzer garnished with a lemon peel for flavor. Refreshing and many agreed it was perfect for the Texas heat!
As folks were sipping on their first cocktail of the evening, an array of meats and unique cheeses were brought out for folks to enjoy as an anti-pasta. Another signature appetizer Piatti served were their Caprese Skewers paired with Orvieto White Wine. Folks were astounded they make the mozzarella fresh in-house every day! While everyone was digging in, the manager of Piatti explained the origins of the wine and the taste palette behind them. The signature dish attendees were able to dive into was the Orechette Pasta, topped with a little mozzarella, paired with the Barbera Red Wine. Delicious!
To end the night, Elites were served Piatti’s amazing Tiramisu paired with the Amaro Nonina cocktail. What a treat. During closing remarks, when asked why people should dine at Piatti, to which the owner, Dan Ward, replied “We want customers to experience Piatti and build memories while they are here.”
We appreciate the staff, Matt, and Dan for having the Yelp Elites experience the warm and inviting ambience of Piatti and their Italian cuisine. We enjoyed the dishes and the wine pairings and look forward to coming back to experience a little taste of Italy.
