We were lucky enough to enjoy a wonderful evening at SMOKE: BBQ+BREW+VENUE in downtown San Antonio. As many folks know, Texas is pretty prideful on our BBQ and we love not just the meats and bbq sauces, but sides like mac n’ cheese and creamed corn.
Those lucky enough to get on the guestlist were not only treated to a BBQ feast fit for royalty they were also given a one-of-a-kind tour of all the spaces within SMOKE including a true speakeasy room! Think inception but with bars.
Attendees were seated in their private dining room but were ushered into Ash which is their craft cocktail bar located underneath the restaurant. With two entrances, one near the kitchen and the other with some amazing graffiti work, folks were blown away that such a concept existed underneath a BBQ restaurant. Once we received a quick tour of Ash, we were then whisked into Ember which is a secret room/bar located within Ash. We’d tell you how to find it but it’s a secret. Within Ash, we not only nibbled on Smoked Deviled Eggs (topped with shredded brisket) and Smoked Chicken Quesadillas but we had a delicious drink made for us as we lounged inside the secret room!
Yelpers were also treated to SMOKE’s version of poutine which was topped with brisket.
The highlight of the night was the Barnyard Family Feast which features UNLIMITED SIDES from those you select. We were treated to mac n’ cheese, fried brussel sprouts, creamed corn, and mashed potatoes paired with their signature brisket, pulled pork, turkey, and sausage. Many Yelp Elites drizzled their plates with their house-made barbeque sauces.
As we dined throughout the evening we were shocked to hear they feature $1.50 Alamo Beer daily! It truly was a great event.
