For visitors and locals alike, when people think Portland, they think food carts. All across the city, chefs are creating culinary wonders from the confines of compact kitchens-on-wheels. Whether you’re looking for brunch or late night bites, somebody in PDX wants to serve it to you through a tiny window. Here are the 25 highest-and-most-reviewed carts of 2019… so far!
25. Supernova Vegan – Mac & cheese, bahn mi, and fish tacos, all 100% vegan! The Space Cowboy is a classic BBQ sandwich with crispy tempeh, citrus slaw, warm BBQ sauce and melted chao cheese on a grilled ciabatta bun.
24. Ramen Ciro – From the streets of Tokyo to the streets of PDX, this downtown cart has many Yelpers declaring it the city’s best. There are five unique broths to choose from, and at only $8.25 for an extra-large bowl, you’ll want to try them all.
23. Shanghai’s Best Street Food – It’s all about the dumplings! Whether you want pan-fried xiao long bao, veggie dumplings, or steamed rice dumplings, they’ve got something for everyone.
22. Long Do Thai – Spicy means spicy at this Arbor Lodge destination for fantastic Thai. The pad kee mao (otherwise known as drunken noodles) is a popular dish, as is the pumpkin curry with avocado.
21. Thai Champa – Late-night Thai on inner East Burnside. Pad Thai and curries are available until 3 AM, and don’t neglect to add an order of crab puffs, which Yelpers say are some of the best in town.
20. The French Toast Connection – How many ways can you make french toast? Here, the options seem endless. Made fresh with challah from Grand Central Baking, everything on this menu will remind you why breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
19. 6Tusks Asian Fusion – Head to Cartlandia for some of the city’s best Laotian eats. Pork belly buns are a clear favorite, and the pandan elephant ear is an undeniably unique sweet treat!
18. Jurassic Cart – Catering to the paleo diet, this cart also accommodates vegans, plus those that are gluten or dairy free. The teriyaki chicken is a Yelper favorite, as is the Dinosaur Egg: a grilled avocado filled with cauliflower sticky rice and topped with mango and cilantro.
17. Bing Mi Food Truck – Chinese jianbing found on the streets of Portland. These Chinese street wraps are freshly made in a savory crepe with scrambled egg and your choice of delicious, fresh Asian ingredients.
16. Chochu Local – Guamanian BBQ that you won’t soon forget. Lumpia, beef kelaguen, and chamorro-style empanadas will have you feeling island vibes in Rose City Park.
15. Mando’s – Stop by for a burger, but be sure and not miss their Remix Wings, which Yelpers are calling sweet, savory, and the best in PDX.
14. Tehuana Oaxacan Cuisine – The tacos and (enormous) burritos are popular, but Yelpers in the know order the chicken enchiladas in mole sauce. Well worth the trip to Killingsworth Station.
13. Bake on the Run – Never had Guayanese food? Here’s your chance! Chef’s favorites include an omelette made with Portuguese-style salted cod, chickpea potato curry, and of course their namesake Bakes, puff breads packed with stuffings both savory and sweet.
12. Eggy Pocket – Chinese sausage, veggies and soy paste wrapped in a crispy, flaky and remarkably soft egg-filled crepe. It’s the breakfast you never knew you were missing.
11. The Meddling Lime – A perfect blend of Mexico and the Pacific Northwest. There are plenty of tacos to choose from, but don’t miss the crispy rice. Plus, isn’t every meal is better with churros?
10. Pepe Chile Taqueria & Catering – Handmade tortillas elevate these street tacos, and multiple vegetarian options like cactus and zucchini have herbivores talking.
9. South – Southern cuisine and hospitality. Buttermilk fried chicken, hush puppies, and black-eyed peas are all on the menu. Wash it all down with an RC Cola and a moon pie!
8. Matt’s BBQ Tacos – This offshoot of Matt’s BBQ serves up Austin-style breakfast tacos you won’t soon forget. And whatever you do, don’t miss the migas!
7. Kazumi – This St John’s secret is out! Try the fried oyster roll and the scallop nigiri.
6. Matt’s BBQ Can’t decide between ribs, brisket, pork, or sausage? Just get the Whole Shebang and try them all. Texas-style BBQ at its best.
5. Hit the Spot! Cheeseburgers and crinkle fries are called classics for a reason. A new Rose City classic.
4. Yoshi’s Sushi – Can the best sushi in PDX really come from a cart in Multnomah Village? Many Yelpers say yes and call out the French Quarter Roll by name.
3. Fried Egg I’m In Love – Breakfast is served in Pioneer Courthouse Square! The Yolko Ono, the Egg Zeppelin, and the Smells Like Protein Spirit are all Yelper favorites.

1. Mumbo Gumbo PDX – In addition to the namesake gumbo, this cajun menu also has killer shrimp ‘n grits. And save room for Brandon’s Nana Pudd’n!
