It’s not every day that Jackrabbit in The Duniway Portland turns one. In fact, it definitely wasn’t their anniversary on the afternoon they hosted Yelp for an epic afternoon soirée. This, of course, was why an unBirthday party was the perfect reason for the Elite Squad to gather at Jackrabbit. It was an epic afternoon complete with rabbits, queens, and and endless supply of food and drink!
None of these Yelpers were late for their very important date, arriving right on time and ready to party! Wearing their Sunday best and the most creative hats they could find, the Elites made their way through the luxe Duniway lobby and into the sunken dining room of Jackrabbit. Here they discovered the first surprise of the day, unBirthday presents for everybody! As each guest selected their own gift bag, all were surprised to learn what they had won. While many walked away with coupons for complimentary appetizers, entrees or desserts, other lucky winners received a complimentary dinner-for-two from Jackrabbit or even complimentary rooms at The Duniway! Winnings big or small, everybody had a reason to celebrate!
The next stop was the buffet, stacked with selections of favorites from Jackrabbit’s brunch menu. The braised pork sugo was served with a creamy polenta and pickled onions, and the biscuits and gravy were topped with a perfectly-spicy sausage gravy. Grilled cheese bites were at once both savory and sweet, and the sliders with bacon made sure nobody went hungry. And how can you celebrate an unBirthday without cake? You can’t! Jackrabbit made custom chocolate, confetti, and strawberry cupcakes to commemorate the big day!
As the DJ kept the beats flowing, the bar did the same with drinks, serving brunch-time staples like rosé by Stoller Family Estate, mimosas, and perfectly-spicy bloody marys! Once the guests all had a glass in hand, it was time for the next big surprise: this party might have been hosted by a rabbit, but the guest of honor was most definitely a queen! As the music cut, local-favorite entertainer Poison Waters made her grand entrance and warmly welcomed the Yelp community. She invited guests to take pictures with her in the photo booth and announced that she was judging a “Best Hat” contest, complete with a secret, fabulous prize! After everybody mixed and mingled, Poison announced the big winner. Thanks to her handmade peacock hat, Yelper Mikhail H won the grand prize and walked away with a weekend stay at the hotel!
But this party wasn’t over yet! Poison led the guests all up to The Duniway’s 11th floor, past the indoor pool and onto the hotel’s new rooftop oasis, Abigail’s Hideaway. While typically this lush and luxe patio is reserved exclusively for hotel guests, Yelpers were welcomed with a champagne bar, laid back vibes, and games like giant Jenga and chess. The guests definitely felt like true VIPs as they chilled on the lounge furniture, chatted up the MC, and sipped on bubbly. As the sun set on the patio and on the party, every guest had a good reason to return to The Jackrabbit at the Duniway.
