With the NFL playoffs underway, the San Diego Chargers
11-game winning streak to close out the regular season has this city in
playoff pandemonium… and Yelp is no exception. Three-time Pro Bowl
special teams player and San Diego State alum Kassim Osgood – often called the mayor of the Chargers – took some time to huddle up with Yelp’s own Danny W for the latest edition of the Weekly Yelp!
DW: Hey Kassim, the Bolts are probably the hottest team in the
league right now, but off the field where do you go to grab a bite
that’s hot ‘n spicy?
KO: I’d probably go to Donovan’s Steak and Chop House. They’ve got a great Cajun rump of lamb over there. It’s outstanding!
DW: As a former Aztec you’ve spent some time around SDSU. Any spots you’d recommend checking out around the area?
KO: Hmm, specifically for college students I’d recommend Wings & Things. It’s a quick tasty meal. Great for grabbing some fast study break food.
DW: San Diego’s got some great places to grab fish. What are your favorites when you’re craving some seafood?
KO: Well, the fish and shrimp tacos at World Famous are always a go to, and for something a bit more high-end, I enjoy The Brigantine in Point Loma.
DW: Where does one of the top special teamer’s in the NFL go to celebrate something special?
KO: Oh definitely the Hard Rock Hotel. They have an awesome staff over there. Every time I go I always expect a good time and it always delivers.
DW: Any hidden gems you’ve found around America’s finest city?
KO: Burgers and beer over at Rocky’s Crown Pub in PB. It’s a must try! Hodad’s is good too, but nothing on Rocky’s.
DW:
You’re usually playing on Sundays, but when bye-week rolls around where
do you go to catch the games and some killer bar food?
KO: Dirty Birds also in PB. They have the best wing selection ever. It’s like a Wing Stop but much better!
DW: Ok, you’ve got to let us in… where are you going to celebrate the special occasion of the Chargers winning the Super Bowl?
KO: I’d probably go back to the Hard Rock Hotel again. Like I said they got a great staff. Very friendly servers, insane DJs spinning
awesome music, and just an overall cool atmosphere. I love that place.
DW:
After you guys hoist the trophy, hopefully you’ll have some
well-deserved time off. Got a favorite beach or outdoor relaxation spot
around town?
KO: Lahaina Beach House right outside on the deck. It’s right on the water and can make for a nice relaxing day sitting in the sun.
DW: And there we have it, good luck and sound the charge!
