PLANTLAB® Culinary School is located in the heart of Venice, California. It was created to teach the skills of unprocessed, plant-based cuisine in a world-class facility with expert chefs and top quality, organic ingredients. They offer a full time course, online classes or weekend workshops for those who want to dabble in what the school has to offer. On a recent Saturday morning, PLANTLAB® Culinary School hosted 16 Los Angeles Yelp Elites for an Introduction to Classic Raw Cuisine.
Students were taught by Chef Mariko Sakata, who demonstrated many dishes and also gave tips for chopping and properly platting a dish. She started out with demonstrating how to make almond milk and a smoothie. Guests then got to make their own Oyster Mushroom Ceviche, Beet Ravioli and Key Lime Tart. Chef Mariko shared some of the benefits of eating raw, such as the science behind enzymes and vitamins in the food and how they break down in the cooking process. Yelpers were hands-on, recreating works of art, after watching the demos from Chef Mariko. Guests left with their creations and skills to last a lifetime.
