“You tell me!” is the Italian meaning of midici and also the motto for the night at our Yelp Elite Event with MidiCi The Neapolitan Pizza Company.
Thirty Yelpers were welcomed in to the beautiful space by smiling pizza makers and friendly servers as they made their way to the back of the restaurant to the long communal table where they would sample all of the deliciousness that MidiCi had to offer.
But first, our guests experienced a restaurant tour with the owner, Mi Song, who passionately described every detail that went into the design of the store from the two massive gold pizza ovens that cook perfect pies in 90 seconds to the real olive tree in the middle of the dining room to Athena, the magical prosciutto slicer.
The end of the tour prompted guests to regroup around the communal table where the first plates of food started to be served. Plate after plate of appetizers, pizzas, and desserts were passed and shared amongst the Yelpers while Mi described the ingredients and love that went into each dish. Throughout the night Mi also encouraged guests to order anything they’d like, following through with their commitment to “you tell me!”
First, plates of creamy burrata with beets and grape tomatoes started off the night’s food journey to Naples. Following the fluffy cheese balls were signature housemade meatballs and several varieties of MidiCi’s fresh salads including the MidiCi house salad, a traditional Caesar, a purple kale and ricotta salad, and the aptly named La Dolce Vita salad that included a handful of fruits mixed with arugula and a tangy lemon vinaigrette.
Stuffed with appetizers, Neapolitan pizzas of all kinds were then brought out. Freshly made crust and a simple tomato sauce accompanied the plethora of toppings that sat atop the perfect base. Favorite pies of the night included double pepperoni, four cheese, margherita, and truffle pizzas.
To wash it all down, guests were offered trips to the Coca-Cola Freestyle machines where they could play soda bartender and mix up their own sweet and bubbly concoctions.
For the cherry on top, desserts were an affogato with the perfect balance of espresso and vanilla gelato; and a fresh-out-the-oven Nutella calzone filled with fresh berries and topped with powdered sugar.
At the end of the night, spirits were high and bellies were full. MidiCi generously sent each guest home with a gift bag that included a whole bottle of MidiCi cold pressed extra virgin olive oil, a can of MidiCi Italian peeled tomatoes, and a coupon to come back for a complimentary margherita pizza.
