Last Thursday night, Toronto’s Yelp Elite Squad took a break from all things digital and took an analogue jaunt to the very hip Lomography Gallery on Queen street west. It’s the middle of the Diana World Tour, so yelpers got to take in the beautiful space and enjoy creative examples of cameras made into art. Brian K mused, “it was nice to party at something other than a restaurant/bar. Lots of things to look at, enough space to float around and chat with friends. With the DJ going there was definitely a different vibe going than the usual elite event.”
The party got started with a small group of elites who got a hands on demonstration of the cameras and embarked on a photocrawl of the neighbourhood. Karen S dug it: “The photo crawl was great fun. I never knew that graffiti alley was so close by. The lesson was very helpful. The staff super unpretentious and knowledgeable.” A new angle to explore the city!
After the crawl, the space filled up with yelpers! For the snackish, Laura C was thrilled that “the food table was never empty and always full of my favourite: Pop Chips.” And of course, a bevy of beverages were at the ready with cocktails featuring Canadian Club, Russian Standard, Maker’s Mark and Skinny Girl margaritas. Danielle F’s drinks were poured gingerly: “A lovely fellow-redheaded bartender was so nice and willing to make my drinks with a heavier hand.” Now, that will definitely blur your focus.
And of course yelpers rocked the Lomo photobooth!
Many thanks to the staff of Lomography for hosting us in such an eye-popping space, and who were kind enough donate all tips to Project Sunshine. To learn more about the store and Lomography’s cameras please visit their website. Thanks again to our sponsors and to Cherry Cola who kept the party going at the event afterparty. A special thank you goes out to DJ extraordinaire Fabio N who also hosts a killer podcast called BitBang. Scope it out!
Until next time, shutterbugs.
