It’s not every day that Yelp Elites get to mingle with the people behind one of Portland’s biggest brands. Thankfully, last Tuesday was not a regular day! To celebrate the opening of their newest location in SE Portland, OP Wurst invited the squad to join in on bottomless sausage and beer!
As with everything at Olympia Provisions, this party was a family affair. Sibling co-owners Elias and Michelle Cairo were there to personally welcome the Yelpers and to educate guests on OP Wurst’s unique menu. All night long, Michelle worked the room, passing out samples of the Pok Pok Dog (topped with pickled green papaya salad) and the classic beef frankfurter. Behind the sausage bar, Elias sampled tastes of three unique sausages: chorizo, bratwurst, and the new roasted chicken and leek!
Meanwhile, the team behind the bar worked double-time to make sure that nobody went thirsty. Everybody enjoyed the OP Wurst Old Fashioned, which swaps out the traditional simple syrup for real maple syrup. The result? A rich and complex cocktail that had the Elites raving! For the beer fans, Oregon City Brewing Company co-sponsored the event! Three unique brews poured all night: The Clackamas Drinkers Association Black IPA, Penthouse Imperial IPA, and Femme Fatale Dry Hopped Tart Saison. All three were fantastic in their own way, and guest were excited to learn that OP Wurst also had an outpost at the brewery’s O.C. taproom!
With a dining room this unique and sausages grilled this beautifully, everybody couldn’t help but take pictures of the event. To make sure those pics were as great as the food, OP Wurst invited photographer and author Jen Stevenson to educate the guests on food photography! Referencing her popular Instagram account @jenlikestoeat, she offered up tips and tricks that make delicious food look even better.
At the end of the night Elias thanked the Elites for coming, and Michelle offered every guest a coupon for a complimentary sausage on their next visit. As the Yelpers made their way home, they were already making plans for when to return! Want to learn more about the Elites’ experience at OP Wurst? About our sponsor:
Born out of Olympia Provisions’ Frankfurter Fridays, OP Wurst is part homage to the authentic American hot dog of yore and part no-holds-barred frankfurter test kitchen. Crafted right here in Portland, Oregon, OP Wurst franks are made with pure Pacific Northwest pork, fresh chopped garlic, and freshly ground spices. All of this adds up to the most authentic frankfurter you’ll find in America today, a nostalgic throwback to that perfect ballpark frank from decades past. Visit them at the Pine Street Market, inside the Oregon City Brewing Company taproom, and at their newest location, 3384 SE Division Street.
