If anybody loves this city more than the Yelp Elites, it’s the team at Portland Gear. That’s why when this hot local clothier hosted Portland Yelp’s most active members for a warehouse party, the theme was obvious: P is for Party!
As guests arrived at the warehouse, one thing was immediately clear: The Yelp Elites take a costume contest seriously! Lined up outside the entrance were ponies, pimps and Pee-Wee Herman. One guest showed what true commitment looks like and even came as pregnant! Those that opted for the “most Portland” theme arrived in Timbers and Blazers gear, dressed as lumbersexuals or sported full hipster regalia. The costume of the night? The Yelper who killed the competition wore an 8 foot tall homage to the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall Portland marquee! What she lacked in ability to navigate doorways she more than made up in dedication and imagination!
Taking a queue from Portland Gear’s relaxed vibe, the party felt like a chill yard party. While Prince, Paula Abdul, and the Pussycat Dolls played on the stereo, guests played pop-a-shot and sipped on pFriem Family Brewers Pilsner. Others enjoyed Peroni and San Pellegrino and played ping-pong for fabulous prizes. And everybody enjoyed the bounty of HOTLIPS pizza, thanks to their huge variety of options. Whether the Yelpers were carnivores, vegetarians or vegans, there were multiple pies to choose from, all topped with fresh local ingredients!
But of course, the star of the show was Portland Gear! Founder Marcus Harvey entertained the crowd with the story of how he turned his deep love of Portland into a thriving local business. Even those familiar with the brand were surprised to see how much it had grown! Guests browsed the warehouse’s huge selection of t-shirts and hats, then went around the corner to the retail space to explore the rest of the collection. Hoodies, tank tops and socks were mixed with pint glasses, flags, and stickers. Large or small, every item showed its PDX pride with Portland Gear’s signature P logo!
As the night came to an end, guests grabbed their swag bags, swung back through the retail space for some last minute shopping, and made their way to whatever wonderful corner of Portland they call home.
