What do you get when you combine Halloween, paint, and wine and snacks? Some creepily, awesomely artistic Yelpers!
Daniel B compliments, "What a fun and different Yelp event. Heidi continues to think up new and interesting things for us to do and it's nice that it involves engaging activities other than just hanging out, eating and drinking."
Everyone's inner Van Gogh came out this evening, minus the ear cutting, although that may have been appropriate for the scary season..
Yelpers mixed in at Pinot's Palette in Duluth to Paint, Drink and Be Spooky. The subject of the evening was a wicked tree silhouette in the foreground, with a feather-raising owl perched, and some menacing haunted houses in the back, set off by a sinister orange sky at dusk. "Its amazing how fast the picture comes together," Karie H hollers (spookily). "Within a couple hours we were adding the final touches, taking the class photos, and cleaning up. It's so much fun to walk around and even though each one of us did the same picture, not a single one is the same."
Indeed, not every Yelper decided to go the same route, which made for a disturbingly exciting evening. Brent H noted, "I enjoyed this event, even though the instructor thought the monkey I painted was a mouse. But that's just silly. Why would a mouse be in a tree?" Tanya C added, "I've really gotten into painting lately, but I'm crappy at it. So I just do my own thing when I go to these types of places. I usually get weird looks from people, but not here. The instructor encouraged us to not stress and do what we want."
Yelpers enjoyed Halloween candy, chips and dips, creepy cookies and adorably gruesome little mice and spiders looking on. At the end of the evening, everyone signed a specially made painting of a Yelp burst, for Pinot's Palette. Tammi D admitted, "I am no artist, but when I left, I felt very proud of what I had created." All in all, a delightfully freaky evening!
