As part of our Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month celebration, we partnered with The Banh Mi Shop to provide a complimentary meal to our confirmed guests. Over the course of this promotion week, guests stopped in anytime during normal operating hours to redeem their sandwich and drink, via Yelp check-in offer.
Guests picked their choice of their 15 Banh Mi, a classic Vietnamese street food. Their signature drink options included Guava Tea, with lychee jelly, Mango black tea, and Honey Dew slush, to name a few.
About The Banh Mi Shop: Owner Chloe Tran shared more with the community about her past, business, and her passions.
My name is Chloe Tran and I am the owner/ founder of The Bánh Mì Shop in Bellevue. We have been in business for around 3 1/2 years. My shop specialized in bánh mì, a Vietnamese-style sandwich that I grew up eating, and bubble tea. I opened my business in 2017, right before I was heading into my junior year of college. I graduated in 2019 with my Bachelor’s degree in Business.I moved to Nebraska from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam in 2012, when I was 17 years old. Unable to find the same food I had back home, I started cooking more often to fulfill my cravings. I also shared my food with others and received mixed reviews. Some dishes are well-liked, some are too foreign to the taste of other people. When I met my now-husband in 2015, I started cooking for him and his 5 children at home (there are 7 siblings total). Introducing Vietnamese food and other cuisines to them was difficult at first since they have never tried it before. I remember feeling discouraged at times and that my cuisine was too different for the people around me. Slowly, the kids started to love my spring rolls, phở, eggrolls, etc, as I patiently add something new to the menu every week. Now, they can eat a bánh mì anytime, use chopsticks like a pro, and request phở every week.
Today, as a business owner, I am eager to share the beauty of Vietnamese cuisine with my customers. Almost 4 years in business have shown me the love and support this community has for different cultures. I no longer feel like I need to change myself to please others. I know I can share my true authentic self and the precious memories of my childhood through my food and my business. I am grateful for our community and the way they empowered small businesses like mine.”
