Manhattan By Sail is New York City's premier sailing company, providing a wide range of public tours and private events throughout each season. Servicing over 60,000 customers per year, Manhattan By Sail was founded by Tom Berton in 2001 out of his love for recreational sailing and recognizing the full potential that New York's waterfront has to offer.
Clipper City is a 150 person, modern replica of a 19th century cargo schooner. It's a 158 footlong sailboat with masts and rigging reaching up to 120 feet from the deck. She was built in the mid-1980's using plans purchased from the Smithsonian Institution and features spacious decks, comfortable and ample seating and a full bar – making for an experience like no other for viewing New York's famous skyline.
For Cinco de Mayo, we loaded said schooner with elites and enjoyed a balmy sunset sail. Given the holiday, we partnered with our friends at Espolon for tequila drinks while taking in the sights of Lower Manhattan. Check out reviews of the sail here and photos here.
Manhattan By Sail offers a bevy of different sailing options including a burlesque sail, whiskey and truffle pairing sail, bottomless lobster and beer sail, a jazz sail (featuring members of The Roots), and more. Check out the website for all the fun.
