Sublime Tavern in Del Mar sits across from the polo fields, with a perfect view and a menu Elites are now obsessed with. Last night North County Yelp hosted Yelp's Dinner With The Chef: An 8-course extravaganza! Each plate was flavorful and unique, served straight from the kitchen where Sublime's Chef Josh focuses on quality local ingredients and feel good comfort food flavors.
Yelp Elite were greeted with a welcome glass of bubbly for a family style mood! Each place setting was yelpishly arranged with schwag and a sustainable lavender mini potted plant from Encinitas's florist, Plenty Of Petals. Red Yelp watches indicated it was time for the feast and lucky members of the Elite Squad settled in for a two hour foodie tour of Sublime selections.
An ahi poke spoon with napa cabbage slaw and sriracha crema started the feast, then course two: The truffle fries with homemade aiolis. Course 3: Sizzling Sisig – pork collar and shoulder, braised and fried served with Hawaiian rolls was a crowd favorite! Next, a spinach, strawberry and goat cheese salad followed by the Ecstasy Mac 'n Cheese made with gorgonzola bechamel, applewood smoked bacon, mushrooms, roasted red pepper, garlic and sage. Our 6th dish almost put us in a carb coma, the Get Figgy Wit It Pizza – figs, prosciutto, arugula, parmesan, balsamic glaze. Second to last we nibbled on quinoa with lemongrass coconut sauce, roasted beets and the finale? Yellowtail with parsley and lemon spaetzle, fennel salad and gingered chardonnay nage. Bravo!
James, the generous and enthusiastic owner, introduced each course, explaining the detail in each dish and the homey relaxed tavern feel Sublime strives to invoke. Chef Josh and the super staff served the farm to table artisanal comfort food
family style and Elite's had a good old fashioned great time sharing the memorable selections. It was cheers with custom beers and luscious wines as each attendee picked selections from the Owner's Choice Menu: Sublime has local micro breweries making special beers just for them! (Not to mention 55 tap handles!)
NCSD's photographer Jonathan Bagalso from i.l.l.a Photography snapped up pics of every bite, see his visual overview here! Loving the floral? Plenty Of Petals is a 5 star biz!
