Whether you think Duke is puke, State is fake, or Carolina is just a bunch of periwinkle-wearing pansies… Elites gathered for March Madness Monday, bearing their favorite local team's colors, and ready to celebrate one of the most exciting times of year to live in the Triangle.
Who better to host this whole showdown than Tobacco Road Sports Cafe? Boasting two Triangle locations, unexpected cuisine, a focus on craft beer, and plenty of TVs (natch!), Tim C sums, "It'd be a perfect place to watch games at." Yelpers were truly in for a treat, as Chef served up his samples in person, including Tobacco Road faves, and a sneak preview at forthcoming menu items! Says Sarah H, "It was really wonderful to hear the chef talk about how they source a lot of local products. My favorites were definitely the turkey burger sliders with lemon aioli and the fried green tomato bruschetta with Chapel Hill Creamery Goat Cheese. I didn't even know I liked fried green tomatoes!" But "what surprised" Kinjal P "the most was the new desserts: the little pie tart-let filled with chocolatey goodness has me day dreaming this morning!"
We were lucky to be among the first to enjoy Great Lakes Brewing Company's debut in the Triangle — and with four craft brews for the taking, yelpers were spoilt for choice! Matty B is "proud to say that I fulfilled my duties and sampled all four of the drafts they brought along with them this evening (I mean how could I call myself an honest reviewer if I had not done so?)." It's all in the name of research, Matty!
For folks who were under dressed, Character Paints was on-hand to help you bleed blue, or red… or, uh, transform into Spiderman. For Michael B, it was a "first-ever face painting. Cassandra made the entire experience a great one. She has a great personality, a gentle touch, and was very eager to paint."
And let's not forget about the Yelp Elite All-Stars basketball team, living on in infamy thanks to the talented man behind the lens, Shon Williams. There's Dook lookin' like a doofus. (I kid! I kid!)
And let's hear it for those boys in (light) blue,
