Meet Yelp Elite and fashionista, Emma D. Camden, London.
Born and raised in Leicester, Emma grew to have a true passion for music and spent the majority of her late teens and early 20’s visiting Camden and soaking in the rock and roll during the Brit Pop Era. Finally, 2 years ago (having already lived in London for 6 years) she was able to finally “live the Camden Dream” and bought a flat in the town itself.
Here’s what Emma has to say about the neighbourhood she loves:
“For me, it will always be the music. At the time, if you were a music lover, Camden was where you were meant to be and this continues today – there’s always a gig or something going on so this is home for me.”
“I’m also a big foodie and I always found that the food spots were previously quite touristy but recently there has been such a rise in great independent businesses opening up, especially in the Stables, the foodie scene is completely changing”
“Yelp has helped me to find some truly unique places including theatres, coffee shops and more. Camden will soon be home to Kerb and VooDoo Rays and I can’t wait! Watch out Camden”.
3 of Emma’s favourite Camden spots:
“This independent is a little gem within stones throw from Mornington Crescent station. I love the vibe inside, with its street art esq decor to lend a nod to its Camden neighbour feel. Leyas is situated right next door to a Pret and every time I see somebody leave Pret sipping their dishwater coffee (each to their own of course), whilst I’m lapping up my silky smooth flat white, a little part of me dies inside and I want to do a shout to let them know how amazing this place really is. Well here’s my BIG shout on Yelp. ER EXCUSE ME….COME HERE, HONEST, YOU REALLY MUST! THE COFFEE IS SO GOOD…”
“Oh my goodness! That was the best fish and chips I’ve ever had”. Says everyone ever. I always do a little smile every time I bring friends, family, work colleagues here as they absolutely love it, but I mean who doesn’t! I’m totally in love with Hook if you hadn’t guessed. Not in a first love, its over before you know it novelty way but in a golden wedding anniversary way where I want to keep coming here every day for the rest of my life. Trust me, its that good…”
“Where do you go when you want to visit a non touristy, cool, local Camden pub….The Prince Albert…What I absolutely love about Camden is… there’s also some hidden little gems just slightly set back from the high street, proper neighbourhood feel places. This pub is definitely one of them…If you want to slow down the pace a bit in Camden and try an alternative option away from the high street or markets then this is your place for a cozy pub feel and some chill time.”
