Well weren't Melbourne Elites, yelpers and guests a lucky bunch last night? Over 100 guests indulged in a night of yelpy fun on the sunny side of the river in St Kilda. Joe's (formerly known as Greasy Joe's) also had reason to celebrate as they showed-off their in-progress renovation, new menu and spectacular bar. Sure you can still get a great burger there, but now you can pair it with a classy cocktail and nibble on a wide range of share plates beforehand!
Yelpers were treated to a glass of bubbles from Shelmerdine upon arrival, and this was just the warm-up easing them in to an evening that included three incredible cocktails, samples from Joe's new menu and funky tunes from DJ RJ.
Dishes included beer-battered fish and triple cooked chips in handmade paper cones and gigantic on-the-bone snapper served alongside fresh salad – mixed to order right in front of drooling yelpers. Both were delicious and went very well with the Mojito Bodequita – a mix of house made spiced rum, mint, candied peel and lime juice.
But the winning dish of the night according to yelpers was the Berkshire Pork Roll – slow cooked pork served with housemade BBQ sauce and chutney inside a delicious brioche-style roll. The chefs stood at the ready, explaining the cooking method and provenance of the pork for the die-hard foodies amongst us.
Joe's staff absoultely delighted yelpers with their service, from the boys behind the bar whipping up individual cocktails with style to the staff on the floor serving decadent brownies with a smile.
Thank you to the Elites, yelpers and guests who came out for Yelp's very first Elite event in Melbourne. And a big thank you to the rad crew at Joe's who made the evening lots of fun, Shelmerdine who got the night off to a great start and DJ RJ who kept things going well after the official 8pm finishing time.
