Welcome to Meet The Elite, where we let you in on the lives of some of our top community members. Aside from being the most authentic, social, and influential members of the Yelp community, Elites set the standard for what Yelp's all about – having a passion for local businesses and sharing that love and knowledge with others.
Today we meet Rachid N, an Elite since 2014 who lives in lovely North Vancouver! When he’s not Yelping, Rachid loves to cycle, hang out with his fam-jam, and secretly rap in the shower.
What’s your favourite part about being Elite?
Meeting new people at the Yelp events; it's the reason I go back and sign up for future events. The sense of community is great and finding new dining spots is always fun.
If I had to pinpoint my favourite moment during my adventures as an Elite, it would have been during the Elite Event at JamJar. I showed up way early and got to chat a bit with the owner while enjoying a traditional Lebanese drink before the Yelp Elite descended on the restaurant for the event. It was a great experience.
What inspires you to keep writing reviews?
I'd have to say that it's my love of writing and the desire to be funny. I try to sneak in a bit of humour into my reviews (whenever I deem appropriate). It also encourages me to try new places, which is always fun. Not having grown up in Vancouver, my review writing allows me the opportunity to discover the city.
What's your favourite best kept secret in Vancouver?
Currently, I would say it's the North Shore trail network. People love hiking the Grouse Grind, but there is a network of trails out there that are just begging to be discovered.
If you're an expert on anything, what would it be?
Accounting!

About the Yelp Elite Squad: The Yelp Elite Squad is our way of recognizing people who are active in the Yelp community – people who are role models both on and off the site. Elite-worthiness is based on a number of things, including well-written reviews, high quality tips, a detailed personal profile, an active voting and complimenting record, and a history of playing well with others. Elites must use their real name on their account, have a real (and clear!) profile photo, and be of legal drinking age in their country. You can read more, and even nominate yourself at yelp.com/elite
