Meet The Brewer: Manchester Beer Week, our fair city’s first city-wide beer festival launches next week on June 10th and who better to kick off the celebrations than the Yelp Manchester community.
On June 1st, a special group of 15 yelpers descended on some of the Northern Quarters best boozers to embark on a special trail of discover, beer-discovery.
Armed with nothing but thirsty taste buds and and a dash of excitement, our group met first at the Smithfield Market Tavern. A pub that had seemingly lost it’s way until a recent revival by the guys from Blackjack brewery – who happen to be good mates with Runaway Brewery and master brewer Mark.
Mark would be our first brewer to meet and did a fantastic job getting our guest out of after-work mode and helped them put their beer tasting hats on.
Mark introduced us to a cracking Pale Ale and talked us through the process of such before it was off to our second stop on the tour.
A quick wander through the streets of NQ and we arrived at Pie & Ale, where Rich from Thirst Class Ale was waiting for us. At this stop Rich expertly guided us through a tasting of 2 of his new brews. An oatmeal ale was first up to accompany our brilliant bar snacks provided by our welcoming hosts, before a hefty 6.2% IPA rounded up our visit.
Bellies full and heads getting fuzzy it was off to our final stop; Port Street Beer House. Waiting for us on arrival from Sam from Track Brewery. A caramel pale ale awaited our guests and it was washed down with a fantastic chat from Sam displaying his passion for and story of all things beer!
