The acai bowl craze has made its way to Denver, and it looks like it’s here to stay! On Thursday, December 1st, Denver Elites were invited to a Meet & Eat at Rush Bowls’ brand new smoothie bowl shop in Denver’s LoHi neighborhood.
Everyone in the group was given their choice of one of three full size acai-based bowls: the Beach Bowl, PB&J Bowl or Pumpkin Spice Bowl. Many Elites were surprised at just how filling a smoothie could be–this could definitely sub for a breakfast, lunch, or dinner meal!
Rush Bowls’ owner, Andrew Pudalov, told us his story about leaving the New York financial scene to pursue his dream of creating a healthy, fast casual restaurant. The OG Rush Bowls location was born in Boulder, CO in 2004 and has become a staple to University of Colorado students and Boulderites alike. After telling us his story, Pudalov took the time to answer some of our burning questions. What exactly is acai? Do you have vegan and gluten free options? Will you open a shop in my neighborhood?!
Before they took off into the chilly Denver night, Elites were asked to fill out recipe cards with their dream smoothie concoction. The Rush Bowls team tested each recipe and chose a winner—the “Mountain Mud Slide Bowl.” This bowl is made with vanilla soy milk, Nutella, almonds, pineapple, blueberry, raspberry, frozen yogurt and topped with graham cracker and dark chocolate chips—we’re drooling just thinking about it. The mastermind behind the bowl, Jason S, was awarded a $50 gift card and his creation was put on a secret Yelp menu through the month of December!
