Founded in 1903, Bernheimer & Schwartz was one of 30 breweries to exist before Prohibition. Anton Schwartz, a world renowned Brewmaster, teamed up with Simon and Max Bernheimer to create this beer hall at 113th & Broadway. All three men are long gone, but their legacies remain intact. The new Bernheim & Schwartz Hall & Restaurant is a tribute to Bernheimer & Schwartz and the history of brewing in Manhattan. The name may be shorter, but the spirit lives on. And a few days before the fat man in the red suit climbed down the chimney, Manhattan Yelpers had a chance to experience this newcomer to Morningside Heights.
Featuring signature house brewed beers and a selection of red and white wines, Yelpers had an all encompassing flavor packed afternoon. Sashimi tuna tacos, mini Kobe beef sliders, house made bacon tator tots, pastrami reuben spring rolls, and chicken tikka masala wontons were just a few of the menu items highlighted throughout the event. Coupled with a white elephant gift exchange and convivial pre-holiday vibes… and it was a date to remember.
