Let's get one thing straight… Madison is full of fantastic, forward-thinking
foodies, trendsetters and creative-types. That said, WE LOVE CHEESE CURDS! (And beer and brats and reubens and fish fry and bread pudding and hunting and fishing and fur and…) This month Elites gathered at Avenue Bar for Yelp's Flannel Fling, a celebration of all the Northwoods cliches we hold near and dear to our hearts!
Chef McKee and his team prepared a wonderful assortment of Wisco favorites including reubens, crab cakes, beef crostini, cheese curds and burgers with bacon jam… BACON JAM! And for dessert; bread pudding, red velvet cupcakes and boozy ice cream treats! Fungus had Shruti W wailing, "Portabella mushrooms have a special place in my heart, so it's no surprise that I loved that burger." Maybe it'll make it onto the menu soon…? (Hint, hint!)
Flannel foodies did more than eat though, Erin C cautions, "Let's not forget that seasonal Belgian IPA "Bedlam". I am a low volume
drinker so I get picky with beer, but I am slowly becoming a loyal Ale
Asylum fan. Also, the best Old Fashioned I've had in a minute – I won't
be shy ordering another one next time." Cheers!
Huge… HUGE thanks to Joey and Talish for being such wonderful hosts and to their entire team for such an amazing evening. The group consensus: The Avenue staff is some of the best in the 608… inviting, warm and hard working. Thanks to Hathaway, everyone's favorite Brewbassador, for the Ale Asylum sips and to The Avenue Strollers who provided a truly Wisconsin soundtrack for the night. And thanks to Jen Dederich who was back at it again capturing crave worthy food shots and some hilarious candids too!
