On a chilly winter night, the Louisville Elites gathered for a little liquid warmth.
The group of 40 or so got together in Bourbons Bistros' chic upstairs space for Yelp's Winter Warmer Wonderland — a magical holiday space where bourbon reigned and yuletide shenanigans ensued.
As Karen R put it, "The space looked welcoming and the lights added that festive touch that made me crave the warmth of bourbon."

Upon entering, the Elites were given "winter survival kit" gift bags. (Because what holiday party is complete without presents?)
Inside they found a slew of Yelp swag to help them get through the season: Yelpstick lip balm, mints, a shot glass and the most recent Buy Local Guide from the Louisville Independent Business Association.
They were also entered to win prizes for checking in, including a large bourbon gift basket and tote from the Louisville Convention and Visitors Bureau, which oversees the Urban Bourbon Trail, a collection of roughly 20 bars, restaurants, distilleries and attractions. (Bourbons Bistro is one of the founding members.)
Other prizes included T-shirts from Bourbons Bistro, tickets to Louisville Stoneware, tickets to the Frazier History Museum, bourbon tasting booklets from Moonshine University and the floral centerpieces from Boston's Floral Couture.

The Elites spent time noshing on some of Bourbons Bistro's goodies, using some holiday props in front of a tinsel-ly photo backdrop and writing about their favorite review of the year on ornament gift tags and placing them on a small tree.

But the highlight of the evening was definitely the drink demos by Richie from Maker's Mark.
As if he were reading "Twas the Night Before Christmas" by a fire, everyone gathered around him to learn how to make a hot toddy and a Tom and Jerry — the latter was a eggnog-like drink, not the cartoon duo.
"It was a little taste of home for me to have a Tom and Jerry, as that is what my parents have as their holiday drinks at home in Wisconsin," wrote Kathy V. "And now I know how to make the drink from scratch!"
And of course everyone had to try a sample after the demo was done.
It made Suzanne B even wax poetic:
"We toasted with toddy, were nice and not naughty, nibbled hors d'oeuvres and made merry. Toward the end of our time we all stood in line to see how one makes "Tom and Jerry.
"As the night grew longer our desire grew stronger to see what we might win in the raffle. Bourbon gifts and tube socks, Frazier tickets and arm clocks, that were meant to delight and not baffle."

The shindig was a fun capstone to 2013 — and hopefully a lead-in into some more fun times in 2014.
"I can't wait for more great events next year," wrote Raquelle Z.

To learn more about the event, read the reviews and check out the rest of the photos, thanks to rad local photographer Maggie Huber.
She even put together a video of the night.
A special thanks to all who came out and to those who helped with the event.
Until next time… SYOY!!!
