If you’re a Little Yelper, what could be better than a trip to a children’s museum? How about a chance to have a private night at the museum, surrounded by your friends and other Elites in training? Yep, that DOES sound better!
Last Thursday, the Portland Children’s Museum opened their doors to Bridgetown’s Yelp Elites and their children. While everybody enjoyed exploring at their own pace, those that were familiar with the museum made a bee-line for their favorite attractions. Some liked to splish and splash in Water Works, where they learned about gravity, currents, and cause-and-effect. Others preferred to make-believe with the four-legged friends in the Pet Hospital or play pretend in the Grasshopper Grocery, where healthy food is always on special. With its cars, busses, and trains, the Vroom Room entertained those with a need for speed, while others got their hands dirty making a masterpiece in the Clay Studio. But wherever the tiny VIPs chose to play, they were in charge of the fun!
Familiar with the museum or not, for everybody on the guest list there was one guaranteed new attraction. On this special night, those in the Yelp community were among the first to experience XOXO: An Exhibit About Love & Forgiveness. This high tech and multi-sensory exhibition helps children think about and explore their feelings through a variety of activities. Whether they preferred writing down kind thoughts and pressing them into Tokens of Love or speaking into Tone Phones to discover how their voice could affect projections on a screen, every Little Yelper walked away a little more sure of how to express their feelings!
Special guests from KIND Snacks set up shop in the lobby, sharing with everybody their unique and healthy treats! KIND Healthy Grains Bars, KIND Popped Snack Bites and of course classic KIND bars were all available. Also on the menu? Info on the KIND Movement, their mission to inspire kindness through actions both big and small! Want to learn more about the KIND Movement? Click……….. here!
Thanks again to the Portland Children’s Museum for inviting the Yelp Elites and their children to explore and discover. Want to see the museum from a kid’s-eye view? Then check out the Flickr gallery. And don’t forget to learn what the grown-ups thought in their official Yelp reviews!
