Kansas City’s Yelp Elites are Turning Japanese at Drunken Fish!

It was a perfect September evening, and the Yelp Elite were ready to mingle at the lengthily-named Elite Event, Yelp Is Turning Japanese I Think It's Turning Japanese I Really Think So. The scene? The beautiful and expansive patio of the newest member of the Drunken Fish family, as 100 guests enjoyed cocktails, sushi and Japanese eats al fresco. Let's take a closer look!

A self-proclaimed fan of both Drunken Fish and Yelp events, Erin W declared that "putting them together was an awesome idea" and that she "loved being able to sit by the fountains and enjoy the beautiful weather." Katherine D called out "the great indoor/outdoor feel, with huge garage doors that allow seamless transition" from outside to in, where you can enjoy a trendy lounge atmoshere with a regular rotation of live DJs. And David A insists "you HAVE to see the bathrooms," citing their unique half-barrel shape. Wishing he would have snapped a photo he says "you have to see it to believe it!" 

Yelpers are nothing if not eaters, and Drunken Fish did not disappoint! "These guys didn't let anyone go hungry," proclaimed Jimmi H. A rotating selection of "sushi, fried rice, lo mein, udon and edamame" kept guests more than satisfied. Michelle F thought the offerings were great, "especially the lobster spring rolls," deeming the accompanying sauce "fantastic!" And if somehow the guests hadn't left fully stuffed, the Drunken Fish staff sent guests on their way home with doggie bags filled with even more to eat! 

Of course, with that much food to sample, guests needed something to wash it down! Fortunately, Drunken Fish crafted a custom menu including "four specialty martinis, four signature drinks, several Japanese beers and red and white wine options," Including Faith B's favorite, "the Mr Miyagi, a fruity yet not too sweet concoction that includes blue curacao, amaretto, midori and fruit juice." Clarice W "adored the blue cheese stuffed olives in her Dirty Kimono," and gives "kudos to the servers, who kept track of individual drink orders and kept the water glasses constantly filled." 

Rounding out the evening were some special Yelpy touches. Yelpers had the opportunity to learn how to make a variety of origami creations, everything from paper cranes to fighter jets! Guests were invited to join a raffle for a treasure-trove of Japanese candies. "As always the swag bags were a delight," said Jen D. Each guest left with their own mini-stash of candy, plus Yelp swag and bonus coupons from Drunken Fish. Ann W was "thrilled that guests got buy-one-get-one cards" on both cocktails and sushi rolls, just one of the many reasons she's eager to return to Drunken Fish!
