Our Elites have been not unlike the Great
Zoltars of Kansas City, giving yelpers sage advice on where
to find the best local businesses in town. We like to think they must have telYELPathy
to be able to do this…but could they have predicted such a smashing good time was to be had at Nica's Cafe on Monday night?
Guests entered and checked in with The Great Tabitha M who handed everyone a tarot card to be read by our tarot card reader for the evening, Gypsy Joan. Despite the 100 degree weather this evening, Nica's patio was shaded, so dining alfresco was a less sweaty affair.
While listening to the tunes of BTO on stage, everyone enjoyed tea-infused cocktails like the Gypsy's Jewels, Dirty Elite Martini (muffaletta garnish) and Crystal Ball (with gunpowder mint tea!)
Then there was the food. Oh, the food…After each table got to sample Nica's scrumptious pizzas, there were four courses to follow: Margarita salad, Thai lasagna, and Nica's new specialty build your own mac & cheese. Was it possible to save room for more? Like anyone could resist the variety of beignets (caramel apple, chocolate truffle and plain). Now there was a full spread (and we're not talking tarot cards here!)
Everyone wanted to try their hand at being a carny fortune teller (showing off their mad Zoltarian skillz)!
Let's not forget, it was fortuitous indeed to see
so many new faces, like Sarah D, Shana S, Chris B, Briana O, Nancy K, Jess J, Stacy N and Mnason M.
Special thanks to: Bryan, Monica, Phil and the staff of Nica's Cafe, Marie F and Vince P for taking such killer photos, Gypsy Joan for giving up her positive energy to so many yelpers, Colleen C, Regional Lead for the Midwest, for helping us out tonight, BTO for providing us with music for the evening, and Sazerac/Glaziers for providing vodka.
See all the pix on the flickr page. Read the reviews. An excerpt from one of our favorites by Angela K: "I was so enamored with the
drinks and food that I didn't mingle as much as I would have. I just
couldn't tear myself away! The pizza was delicious, the Thai lasagna
was delightful and unexpected. And the mac & cheese…YUM!"
Until next time, SYOY!
