Have you found yourself ordering the same salad from the same restaurant at the same time every Friday? 

You might be in a restaurant rut. Don’t worry, it happens to all of us. The next time you’re facing this culinary quandary, turn to Yelp! There is a whole community ready to support you and your tastebuds. Of course, the best way to get out of a restaurant rut is to avoid it altogether and so we sought advice from some distinguished foodies on the Yelp Elite Squad. Read on to see how they responded when we asked: how do you get out of a restaurant rut?

“I act like I’m on a secret mission to find the best of the best of a certain cuisine in Tampa Bay and spend the weekends finding them. It makes it fun and fulfilling to explore new restaurants.”

“I have a Collection of vegan and vegan centric businesses. I also follow vegan, BIPOC foodies and business owners on Instagram. When I see a place that looks interesting posted by one of these people, I will create a bookmark on Yelp. Then, if I’m in a rut, I will go through my bookmarks and Collections to select a place to visit.

I try to hit up at least one a month.”

“I like to sort reviews on Yelp to read the good and bad. I like to know what to expect but make my own decision.”

Andrea’s hot tip to learn about new food? Events!

“I  like to search for hidden gems in the local area that perhaps we have overlooked. I don’t always go along with the crowd. And I use my daily commute or travels to seek opportunities to try new foods.

My best advice is to be willing to come out of your comfort zone. Sometimes we stay on “cruise control” with our eating habits. There is nothing wrong in eating the same things that you know you  like, but you could be missing out on some other delicious options.”
