Patton Maryland does everything whole hog. That was especially true last Tuesday, when Chef Wesley Berger invited Portland’s Elites to visit his North Interstate digs. It was a definitely a party to remember. Why? The only thing more Southern than the cuisine was the hospitality!
The Yelpers arrived ready to pig out. First stop after check in? The appetizer table, featuring pickled eggs, juicy watermelon, and pimento crostini! Next stop was the bar, where the complimentary drinks came out fast and friendly! Some opted for pints of 10 Barrel’s Code 24 Pale Ale, an Oregon favorite since 2006. Others opted for Patton Maryland’s signature cocktails and had two delicious options! The Bear in the Bushes was made with Effen vodka, grapefruit, lime and basil. And tequila lovers opted for the Strawberry Black Pepper Margarita, mixed with Hornitos Plata and served on the rocks! For the teetotalers? Fresh ginger-mint limeade!
Soon, it was time for the main event! It was cameras out as Chef Wesley walked the whole roasted pig through the dining room! The Yelpers lined up to be served a real southern feast! The juicy and flavorful pulled pork was complemented perfectly by sides like potato salad, coleslaw, and Hoppin John, a combination of black-eyed peas and rice. And of course people had to try both of Patton Maryland’s signature BBQ sauces. Whether they preferred the spicy mustard or the sweet tomato, everybody agreed they were the perfect touch to a fantastic meal!
With clean plates and full bellies, the Yelp Elites then explored the restaurant. Some played giant Jenga on the dog-friendly patio. Others relaxed and chatted around the fire pit in the lawn, making new friends and catching up with old ones. And nobody missed the chance to snap some pictures in the PDX Photo Lounge booth! And since it both printed out photos and emailed digital copies, everybody could easily share their memories. It even made custom GIFs, which really inspired the Yelpers’ creativity!
At the end of the night, the Yelpers gathered in the dining room for a raffle. One lucky guest walked away with a huge cooler, perfect for summer BBQs of their own. And another guest won a $100 gift certificate to Patton Maryland, which made her very popular with the other Yelpers! But in the end, everybody was a winner, as our hosts passed out swag bags complete with gift certificates to use on their next visit. Most everybody agreed… that next visit would be sooner rather than later!
